NL: Van maandag 24 januari t.e.m. vrijdag 28 januari 2022 presenteren de onderzoekers van het RITCS School of Arts hun artistiek en theoretisch onderzoek tijdens Future Narratives.
Filmwetenschapper Laura Mulvey lanceerde in 1975 de term “male gaze”, met als doel te onderzoeken welke rol gender speelt in cinema. Schrijver Basje Boer gaat in een lezing dieper in op de betekenis van de male gaze en de verschillende manieren waarop deze wordt gebruikt, om tot een mogelijk antwoord te komen op de vraag wat de "female gaze" zou kunnen zijn.
Na haar inleiding tot de (fe)male gaze gaat Basje Boer rond de tafel zitten met actrice en danseres Nadine Baboy, director of photography Amandine Klee en met regisseur-onderzoeker Charlotte De Cort (RITCS). Samen gaan ze in gesprek over de dominante male gaze in de populaire dansfilm (die per definitie het etaleren van het menselijk lichaam inhoudt), en exploreren ze de mogelijkheden voor de female gaze in dit genre.

Film scholar Laura Mulvey launched the term "male gaze" in 1975, with the aim of exploring the role of gender in cinema. In a lecture, writer Basje Boer will explore the meaning of the male gaze and the different ways in which the term is used, in order to arrive at a possible answer to the question of what the "female gaze" might be.
After her introduction to the (fe)male gaze, Basje Boer will sit down with actress and dancer Nadine Baboy, director of photography Amandine Klee and director-researcher Charlotte De Cort (RITCS). Together they will discuss the dominant male gaze in the popular dance film (which by definition implies the display of the human body), and they will explore the possibilities for the female gaze in this genre.
