Educational Master of Audiovisual and Visual Arts
Do you already have an Audiovisual Arts degree in your pocket and want to share your love for the arts? Then start with an Educational Master Audiovisual and Visual Arts, focusing on your domain and passion within the audiovisual arts.
We start from your personal commitment to share your artistic knowledge with society, through education, community art, educational work, or social-artistic work. Our programs have an extensive network and work closely with social-artistic organizations, DKO, KSO, and other partners to shape your education.
What sets us apart is the seamless integration of theory and practice in our curriculum. The internship is a common thread throughout your training and gradually becomes more complex and challenging as you progress.
If you are already working in education, you can join us as a Teacher-in-Training (LIO). This means that under certain conditions your teaching assignment can count as an internship. It is best to contact the training coordinator as soon as possible.
We guide you in a slow immersion in artistic teaching practice, with microteaching, creative labs and individual internships. In the cross-domain project, you work with fellow students and teachers to develop your own socio-artistic strategy, aimed at getting children, youth and adults excited about discovering and embracing their creativity. Finally, you complete individual internships in the DKO/KSO.
Our Educational Training programs prepare artist-teachers to address various artistic-pedagogical situations from a curious, inquisitive, playful attitude.
Course
We choose the Shortened Programme intentionally because we believe that you must first become skilled in your own artistic discipline and then translate that artistic knowledge and skill into an artistic learning environment. The curriculum consists of four subcourses that you can take together or staggered in consultation with the program, adapted to your artistic and educational activities. Class days take place on Mondays and Saturdays throughout the academic year.
All our classes are in Dutch.
RITCS & KCB
RITCS and KCB are joining forces to shape these courses. This offers you a unique opportunity to work across domains and increases your chances of getting a job as an artist-teacher! Of course, you will also become proficient as an artist-teacher within your own discipline. Thanks to the extensive network within Brussels, students can immediately work in a metropolitan context through labs and cross-domain projects.
The program works primarily from existing socio-artistic practices. You will be confronted with connecting artists and their unique strategies for working in co-creation with participants and learners.
The program aims to inspire students and make a strong commitment to an inquisitive attitude. One way we do this is by organizing a series of inspiring lectures in which we confront students with leading and innovative voices within the artistic-pedagogical field. In addition, all teachers, subject didactics and guest lecturers are leading experts with regard to art participation, their artistic discipline and as an artist-teacher.
Both Schools of Arts are located in the heart of Europe: Brussels. A city full of challenges where you can experiment with innovative working methods and learn to interact with a wide range of cultures.
