Siebe Dumon will become Head of the academic programme in Audiovisual Arts at RITCS
As of 1 October, Siebe Dumon will become Head of the academic programme in Audiovisual Arts at RITCS. She succeeds Patrick Geeraerts, who will continue teaching. With Dumon, the school is choosing a passionate professional with a keen eye for talent, policy, and the future.
From Television to Talent Development
Siebe Dumon began her career in television, but soon shifted her focus to supporting audiovisual talent. She worked at the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) for sixteen years, operating at the intersection of creativity and strategy. There, she helped shape impactful policies on talent development and sustainability, built international networks, and supported creators in finding their voice and place within the sector. Thanks in part to her efforts, VAF became a pioneer in sustainable film production, including at the European level.
Connection, Depth, and Innovation at RITCS
In 2022, Dumon joined RITCS as Deputy Head of Programme, working alongside Patrick Geeraerts. She contributed to the peer review process and to strengthening the programme’s content. Over the past few years, the school has grown into an environment close to her heart. "RITCS is a place full of talent, curiosity, and engagement. I look forward to working with the team to further build a warm, challenging, and inclusive learning environment," says Dumon. "A place where students can develop both their artistic and social voice – and are equipped with the tools to bring it powerfully into the world."
A Facilitator with a Passion for Stories
Dumon studied languages and literature, journalism, and garden and landscape architecture, and is known for her collaborative style, strategic mindset, and human-centred approach. She brings not only a broad background to her new role, but also a genuine passion for people and stories. Under her leadership, the Audiovisual Arts programme aims to continue growing as a creative hub for imaginative thinkers and critical makers.
A New Chapter After Years of Growth
Patrick Geeraerts, himself a former RITCS student, has helped shape the programme over several decades. After a career as a cameraman and editor both in Belgium and abroad, he joined the RITCS teaching team in 2000. Since 2014, he has led the Audiovisual Arts programme, guiding the development of the master’s tracks with their eight graduation specialisations. His dedication, vision, and close engagement with students have been driving forces behind the school’s growth and innovation. He will continue supporting students as a lecturer in the coming years.
What drives me? Making a difference. That’s what gives me energy, and it’s what I want to realise within the school – on an idealistic, operational, and human level. Above all, by challenging students to become critical makers who tell stories that matter.
