La Casa degli Italiani is a show in which fiction and reality are mixed. After almost 86 years of history, the “Istituto Italiano di Cultura” in Brussels, will change seat in June 2018, for security and financial reasons. The Istituto will move to the Montepaschi Palace, in the European neighbourhood, and the historical building of rue de Livourne 38 will become the “Night Club Livorno”, one of many in the Louise district. Few students, who witnessed the last 20 years of life in the Istituto, are coming back in there during the last hours of life of the place that was their second home for a long time. Among them also some employees and teachers who worked there in the last period. They will come together, in the old cinema/theatre, created in 1935 for the Brussels International Expo, to bring back their personal memories and the memories of the building. They will try to understand what they are losing and why they are still attached to this place.
