Audiovisual Arts
In this professional bachelor's program, you are trained to become a versatile media creator, ready to make a difference in the rapidly evolving fields of media and the arts. After this three-year program, you will be able to contribute creatively and innovatively to developing formats for the stories of today and tomorrow, across various platforms.
The program is designed for you if you want to contribute to the stories happening right now. You feel at home in the world of (online) audiovisual media and are eager to further develop your skills to capture events, concerts, programmes, and current affairs, and later transform them into creative content.
You're an early adopter, passionate about the latest technological developments and trends, and you want to further professionalise yourself to work in the media as a versatile all-rounder. You thrive on variety and, as a hands-on creator, are keen to expand your knowledge to work more, faster, differently, and more professionally.
You enjoy teamwork and dream of turning an idea into fresh audiovisual content with your team as a creative, multidisciplinary collaborator. You want to be an essential link in the workflow of large live productions. You're entrepreneurial and communicate clearly.
At RITCS, you want to delve deeper into how to quickly, efficiently, and above all, professionally create content for various platforms. Technique, organisational insight, reflection, creative imagination, and critical thinking are key. You prefer to have one foot in the school and the other in the industry, so you can keep up with the latest trends in the audiovisual sector.
All our classes are in Dutch.
Pathway
In your first year, you choose one of three pathways: Realisation, Production Management, or Audio-Video Technology, based on your interests. You'll team up with your fellow students, working together as part of a production company. Additionally, you'll have access to 'Airbox,' the online platform where you and your peers create your own content and gain valuable experience in the audiovisual world.
The second year is all about growth and deepening your expertise. You’ll focus on your chosen pathway and sharpen your skills. You’ll find that you’re now able to tackle more complex projects, while collaboration remains a key element of the program.
In the third year, we step back from your chosen pathway and give you the freedom to map out your own unique journey. This is the moment when you can truly focus on your personal passions and interests. You now have full control and can experiment with various aspects of the audiovisual arts. When it comes to finding an internship, you’ll have a range of options, from media art to music videos, or from cultural institutions to renowned (inter)national media houses.
Options
Realisation: You are a creative doer with an eye for the needs of a target audience or a client. You think carefully about the balance between form and content in audiovisual products. Through research and editorial work, you’ll learn how to develop a concept from scratch and guide an idea into a creative final product for various platforms, while also learning how to lead a team. You'll constantly seek the most suitable style and approach, both in terms of form and content.
Audio-Video Technology: Are you eager to delve into audiovisual techniques and apply them in creative formats across different platforms? This pathway offers many possibilities: you can acquire the traditional skills for image, sound, and editing for conventional media, or immerse yourself in the latest technologies and virtual worlds to craft the stories of today and tomorrow.
Production Management: Through targeted courses, you will learn how to understand, plan, budget, and guide the creative process to get the most out of both your creative team and the final result. You have an eye for detail and always keep the bigger picture in mind. As the point of contact, you’ll make solid agreements with production companies, TV studios, concert venues, and other organisers for whom you create content.
